Application
If you study in English here at UCT Prague, you do not need the language certificate for UCT Prague application process.
But defintely check, if you dont need one for the host institution.
Check the conditions for recognition (validity) of the language certificate and the minimum level of knowledge according to the rules of your future host university. If they have no restrictions, level B2 is sufficient for your application.
- We do not limit the age of certificates for applications. If you have an older certificate and want to improve your rating, take a test at the Language Institute.
- If you do not have a recognized language certificate (TOEFL, FCE, CAE, etc.), you can also take a test at the Language Institute. You can register by emailing the specific teacher. Tests take place during the consultation hours of the selected teacher. You can arrange a specific date by email.

Before departure
Has your application been approved? Congratulations! Now start gathering all the necessary documents, read our recommendations and tips on where to seek advice if necessary, and make an appointment to sign the participation agreement at least 14 days before your planned departure. See below for instructions.
Check with the Dean's Office the conditions for the payment of the Special Purpose Scholarship for PhD students going abroad. Each faculty has one, but under different conditions. You can add this to your scholarship from us.
If you go to EU countries and countries with has a bilateral social security agreement (including health care) which the Czech Republic, always apply for an A1 certificate at the HR department at least one month before departure.
- You will need a posting letter with your application - sample letter. It must be signed by the head of the institute. Please check with your HR department and with our colleague Ing. Anna Mittnerová or Mgr. Anna Kernová. Do not hesitate to contact them, I'm sure she will be happy to assist you.
- Get yourself a “Form for the Foreign Business Travel” even if you do not get financial support from your employer.
Considering intellectual property protection, known as Intellectual Property Rights, is an important part of preparing for your trip abroad.
Regarding the scope of your work abroad, please always consider with your supervisor to what extent your/the University's Intellectual Property Rights need to be protected.
Don't forget the other way around - if you are going to collaborate on someone else's project - the extent to which they will allow you to publish and use the results of the work. If you are unsure, contact our colleagues at the Research and Technology Transfer Department.
Participant Agreement
The International Office will prepare a Participant Agreement (financial agreement), for you. Once you have all the necessary documents ready, upload them and answer the questions in this form:
Data for Participant Agreement
- Once you have submitted the form, write to outgoing@vscht.cz and ask for an appointment to sign the participation agreement. You must still have at least 10 working days left before your departure!
Letter of Acceptance stating the exact dates of your stay (expected arrival, departure). This period will be counted towards your stay! Document has no given form. It might me even the confirming email from your host supervisor.
Insurance (a copy of the insurance policy) proving that you are insured for the entire duration of your stay. You must have travel insurance and liability insurance for the entire duration of your stay. Unfortunately, the EHIC European insurance card does NOT provide sufficient coverage of expenses and adequate services for travel abroad.
- We recommend checking the travel insurance offers provided by your health insurance company. For example, OZP and VZP policyholders have very advantageous offers from their insurance companies, and ZPMV policyholders even have offers that are almost free! We have also found the ISIC insurance offer to be good, and ERAPO and VŠCHT also offer discounts with AXA insurance.
Learning Agreement Before Mobility signed by all responsible persons at the University of Chemistry and Technology and the host institution. MSP and BSP students – do not forget to have the guarantor sign for the eligible subject.
EUR account details (bank name, BIC/SWIFT, IBAN).
Deans office - don't forget to inform the dean's office about your departure plans as soon as you have specific departure and arrival dates. MSP and BSP students - you must have your enrollment for the next semester arranged.
Arranging travel and accommodation at your destination is entirely up to you. The scholarship you receive from Erasmus is a fixed amount based solely on your destination and length of stay and does not change depending on your travel and accommodation costs.
Be very careful with various Facebook offers that require advance payment for accommodation. These are often scams and no one will refund your money.

Contact your host university and your local coordinator (incoming student coordinator) to get as much information as possible about student accommodation options, such as dormitories or other portals offering verified accommodation in the area.
Travel sustainably!
Erasmus has introduced support for so-called green travel, which provides you with higher financial support for your trip if you travel by sustainable means of transport. More information here:
Tips from ESN
- Search for an ESN section at your destination: https://esn.org/sections
- Culture Shock Presentation: https://youtu.be/BiL0d_TjanI
- Buddy System: https://esn-uct.artemis.esnhk.cz/accounts/signup/
- ESN UCT Prague Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/esnuctprague/
This is importrant document. Defines your rights and responsibilities.
Registration in the DROZD database
We recommend this for every trip abroad. This involves registering on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the database of Voluntary Registration of Czech Citizens Traveling Abroad - DROZD. This is very useful, not only because it will send you warnings in the event of any extraordinary crisis situation from the embassy in your region, but it will also inform you about everyday matters such as transport strikes, train cancellations, and the like. And that always comes in handy.
OLS (Online Language Support)
Before you leave, you can take the OLS language test and gain access to many online language courses, whether for the language of your studies or the language spoken at your destination. For simplicity, you can go through the instructions on how to log in to the platform.
Changes during your stay
- The application must be submitted at least 30 days before the end of the mobility period. Please wait for our approval, as we need to assess the application, particularly in terms of the school's financial capabilities. Once the application has been approved, we will send you an Amendment to the Participation Agreement for signature.
What to bring back home?
- If you are unable to meet with your supervisor in the last days of your internship, fill out the form and ask for their signature and to send it by email. A copy of the email must be sent directly to outgoing@vscht.cz. Documents for download can be found at the bottom of the page.
What are your duties after return?
- MSP and BSP program students must not forget to have the subject they listed in the LABM recognized!
Shortly after your return, if you were funded by Erasmus funds, you will need to fill out EU Survey - a mandatory questionnaire sent to you by the European Commission. You will automatically receive requests to fill it out via your school email. If your scholarship was MOBI (non-Erasmus), you will not receive a request to fill out the EU Survey. Just download and fill out the MOBI final report.
- Please check your spam folder. Requests to fill in the questionnaire often end up there.
